Website Redesign
The Compass
About project
Resource-sharing platform redesign
Additional Information:
Team Size: 12
Tools: Adobe XD, Photoshop
Platform: Drupal to WordPress
Background: Three Compass serves as an online resource center for social and behavioral change professionals across the globe.
Problem: There were numerous user experience issues such as confusing site architecture, monotonous page layout of long articles and reports, and pages that were not mobile responsive. Understanding how and where to submit research for review was another user pain point. This resulted in numerous emails to the site manager, help chat sessions, and having to hold live (streamed) and recorded demonstrations of how to use the site. The website was also being migrated from Drupal to WordPress.
My Role: As the visual designer, I reconfigured the mobile screens, established a layout structure for interior pages, updated card components and video containers, and assisted with the planning of site architecture,
Solution: Create a more visually appealing, easy-to-use site that’s mobile-friendly. For my role in the project, I created a dedicated page for users to submit their research that can easily be found in the navigation bar. Updated the layout of interior pages to have text hierarchy, division of sections for skimability, and added side navigation to jump sections in long articles. And, created mobile responsive page layouts and components that worked with WordPress design constraints.
Result: A sharp decrease in the number of emails and chat requests for assistance submitting research articles. No longer holding brown bag and video streaming sessions on submitting research articles. An increase of traffic to the Compass website. More content (articles, research) being submitted.
